<B>1837 H10C Small Date (Flat Top 1) MS66 PCGS.</B></I> The Small Date 1837 Seated half dime is distinguished from the Large Date by a thick flag that is flat on the 1 in the date, whereas the Large Date has a curved top to the 1. The Small Date is a little more difficult to locate than the Large Date. PCGS has certified about 100 Small Date examples in all grades, fewer than 20 of which are MS65 or better. This Premium Gem example displays glowing luster and a thin layer of gold patina that acquires some tan-gold hues around the borders. A well executed strike has left exceptional detail on the devices. Both sides have been well cared for.
