<B>1837 50C MS63 PCGS.</B></I> JR-22, R.6. A bold clash mark protrudes from Liberty's chin. As such, this die marriage was labeled the 'Chin Whiskers' variety by Jules Reiver in his <I>Identification Manual for Reeded Edge Half Dollars</B></I>. The rarity rating assigned by Reiver in 1988 would, today, be lower as new examples have since been attributed, including the current coin. Amber-rose toning throughout with tinges of blue iridescence at the peripheries are brought to life by lustrous surfaces.
