Donald Kagin distributes the various Christopher Bechtler gold issues among seven different series. The first through third series were coined from 1831 to 1834, the fourth series from 1834 to 1837, and the fifth through seventh series from 1837 to 1842. After these seven series, the firm was operated by Augustus Bechtler from 1842 until the early 1850s, in essence an eighth series. Although lightly hairlined, the surfaces are exceptional with rich lilac toning over deep gold color.
