(1837-42) $2 1/2 C. Bechtler Quarter Eagle, 64G. 22C. MS60 NGC. K-12, High R.6. Breen-7757. GEORGIA GOLD, even 22. Deep, original coppery-orange and green-gold coloration adorns the moderately reflective surfaces. A few minor marks and pinscratches are noted on each side. The lower half of R in BECHTLER is die-filled, and thick die cracks extend from the obverse rim through T at 12 o'clock, to the upper left edge of E in BECHTLER, and to the lower left point of 2. According to Breen (1988), the "location stamp" of GEORGIA GOLD was indicative of the fineness of gold content, at 22 carats, and not necessarily a guarantee that the coinage metal was actually from Georgia. Listed on page 349 of the 2008 Guide Book.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
