1837 $2 1/2 MS64 PCGS. McCloskey-B, R.3. The most available die pairing for the 1837, recognizable by a wide left border and three lines per vertical stripe on the shield. An arrowhead touches the right foot of the final A in AMERICA. As a date, the 1837 is somewhat overlooked in the Classic Head quarter eagle series, although only a few dozen Uncirculated examples survive. That number dwindles to a handful of coins in Choice and better grades. This ultra-frosty representative is boldly struck in all areas and has an especially vibrant, satiny sheen. Were it not for a few paper-thin scrapes in the reverse field, this lovely quarter eagle would almost certainly qualify as a Gem. Even so, the eye appeal is extremely high. Population: 3 in 64, 1 finer (10/06).
From The Stone 1837 Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
