The 1837 quarter eagle, with a mintage of 45,080, is usually seen in XF and AU. Uncirculated examples are rare, and tend to be located in the low end of the Mint State continuum. Indeed, PCGS and NGC have seen a total of about 60 Uncirculated examples, the vast majority of which grade from MS60 to MS62. Fully struck coins are rare, with most showing weakness on the high points at the centers.
The MS62 piece in this lot displays bright yellow-gold surfaces with just the slightest tint of light green. The motifs are lightly frosted, and highlighted by the partially prooflike fields. A good strike is seen on the design elements, as manifested in the strong definition on Liberty's hair, the star centers, and the eagle's plumage, though minor softness is noted in the hair over Liberty's ear. A few unobtrusive, wispy handling marks prevent an even higher grade.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
