1837 Feuchtwanger Three Cents--Repaired--NCS. XF Details. Low-118, HT-263, R.5. A defiant eagle faces left and stands on a rock. The denomination is spelled out on the reverse with no numerals. Struck in German silver. Though he was among the most persistent of the petitioners who stumped for a novel composition for American coinage, Lewis Feuchtwanger never saw his pet composition adopted by the government. His one cent and three cent trial pieces, however, circulated extensively alongside other Hard Times tokens. This lightly worn example of the elusive three cent, eagle obverse design issue shows luminous olive-gray toning. The date area is smoothed over, likely due to past damage, and this repair accounts for the details grade.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
