1837<1C> Feuchtwanger Cent MS65 NGC. Low-120, HT-268, Breen 5-G, R.2 Dr. Feuchtwanger was desirous of introducing his "German Silver" composition (which contained no actual silver) to the coinage of a one-cent piece, presumably to cut down on production cost. The composition was an alloy of copper, nickel, and zinc. This example is a no-questions Gem with lustrous nickel-gray surfaces. Well struck and impeccably preserved, it is one of the finest known examples, and certainly one of the very best that we have seen.
