1837 10C MS66 NGC. JR-3, R.2. While a fairly common variety, especially in lower grades, this is most likely the finest example known. In the JR reference, the finest that had been seen at that time (1984) was an MS63 in a dealer's stock. This is an extraordinary piece. The surfaces show soft, frosted mint luster and each side is brilliant except for a faint ring of golden around the obverse. Fully struck throughout, the surfaces are problem-free, as one would expect from a coin in this grade. Struck from a later state of the dies with a pronounced die crack from the lower rim through the 7 in the date continuing on to the band between the T and Y in LIBERTY. Population: 6 in 66, 0 finer (11/02). Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
