1836 PS$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1, PR55 ANACS. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment I. Original Issue of 1836 with the eagle flying upward. One of the 600 pieces struck in late December of 1836, as evidenced by the faint die scratch above the eagle's wing that points toward the AT of STATES. This scratch was apparently done between the first and second striking periods in late 1836, as it was not present on the first batch of coins produced earlier in December. This piece shows only slight friction over the highpoint of the eagle's breast and the hair, head, and breasts of Liberty. Close examination shows the expected number of small contact marks for this grade, but none are large enough to mention. Deep golden-rose and sea-green toning is splashed across each side of this high grade survivor.
