1836 P$1 Name on Base, Judd-60 Original, Pollock-65, R.1, PR35 PCGS. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment I (Liberty's head opposite DO). This early December striking shows the eagle flying upward with a coin turn. Only 400 pieces are believed to have been produced in this first striking period. While it is generally accepted that the 1836 dollars were struck as circulating proofs, there is no evidence remaining of such a finish on this coin. The fields show a uniform, light gray color, the same as the highpoints of the design. The recesses are a deeper charcoal gray. Several contact marks are scattered over each side, the most obvious ones in the right obverse field and in the fields above and below the eagle. Even wear over the design motifs on each side.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
