1836<1C> N-6, R.2. MS64 Brown NGC. MS60 EAC. Wavy-Top Head; PLD, PLS Left of Inner Curves. This obverse die was used for two varieties, with N-7 struck first. That variety is not known with the obverse rim break above stars 7 and 8. In fact, a few early state examples of the N-6 die marriage are also known without the rim break, but they are quite rare. Later die states, such as the present coin, have a series of radial die cracks on the reverse. This example is nearly the terminal state, exhibiting all reverse cracks mentioned by John Wright, except for an arc crack through the top of M. A sharply struck cent with excellent hair and wreath detail. The surfaces are lovely olive and tan with considerable original mint red near the borders. Only a few minor abrasions are noted on the obverse, and the reverse is exceptional for its quality.
Ex: Michael (9/5/1991). Envelope Included.
