1836 to 1848, Lot of Four Printed Documents, Regarding Revolutionary War Pensions, Choice Very Fine.
In this lot of 4 original documents, each describes the latest Pension Act as passed by the U.S. Congress and provides instructions for counsel on how to secure a pension for a client. Each document measures about 13” x 8.”

1. July 9, 1836. Titled: “War Department” describing the pension law on 3 printed pages. This particular document has a news clipping of the new law tipped to the inside.

2. March 3, 1843. Titled: “An Act granting a pension to certain [widows of] Revolutionary soldiers.” The first paragraph summarizes the new law, and is signed in print by the Speaker of the House, John White, and the President of the Senate Pro Tempore, Willie P. Mangum. This document contains only 1 printed page and 3 blank pages.

3. June 17, 1844. Titled: “An Act To continue the pensions of certain widows.” The first paragraph is a description of the law, perhaps as amended. There is then a notice from the Commissioner of the Pension Office and a notice from the Second Comptroller's Office of the Treasury Department. Total 3 printed pages.

4. February 2, 1848. Titled as: “An Act Making further provisions for surviving Widows of the Soldiers of the Revolution.” There is another short notice below the terms of the act, from the Commissioner of Pensions, which is followed by further instruction for obtaining a pension. All 4 items are in choice condition with some light toning and the 3 original folds required for mailing these documents. (4 items)
