1836<10C> JR-1, R.3. Reiver state b. AU58 NGC. Attractive medium gray throughout, with clean surfaces that show minimal distractions. One minor spot below the first T of STATES will identify this coin. Extensive rim crumbling through the dentils on the reverse, from the D of UNITED and above STATES, not reported in the dime book. This was the final use of this reverse die, which was remarried to this obverse after an affair with the 1835 JR-6 obverse to coin that variety. Advanced die state analysis has proven that the Philadelphia Mint paid little notice to the date on the obverse when producing coins, and dies were simply used until they fell apart and were useless.
Ex: Werl (September 1983). Envelope Included.
