1836 $1 Judd-60 Original, Medal Alignment PR58 PCGS. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment II (medallic alignment with the head of Liberty opposite ES). All medallic-oriented 1836 Gobrecht dollars are related. All are part of the 1837 issue. All were struck after the reverse die was scratched and show the fine die line above the eagle's wing. A number of the 1837 issue dollars were struck in various die orientations. It appears the first coins were struck in Die Alignment II (center of Liberty's head opposite ES in STATES), with Die Alignment IV (center of Liberty's head opposite right side of F in OF) the final configuration. In this initial alignment, only 200 or so of the 600 coins are believed to have been struck.
This is a spectacular, deeply mirrored coin. Each side is mostly brilliant with just the slightest accent of golden toning around the margins. Light evidence of friction can be seen in the fields and over the highest points of the devices.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
