1836 $1 Judd-60 Original--Repaired--NCS. PR VF Detail. Silver. Plain Edge. Die Alignment IV (medallic alignment with the head of Liberty opposite OF). This is from the third striking period: March 1837. The first and second periods are from early and late December 1836. While we have conveniently labeled this as a Die Alignment IV piece, the eagle is not technically flying level when given a medallic turn. This is because these March 1837 pieces started out in Die Alignment II (eagle flying upward) and the reverse die was apparently loose, making successive strikes lower and lower. This piece is technically an intermediate die alignment coin, but very close to Die Alignment IV.
The surfaces are light gray overall with a number of small marks and shallow scratches, as one would expect from a VF coin. The repair mentioned on the NCS insert is in the upper right obverse field.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
