1836 1/2 C PR62 Brown PCGS.
1836 1/2 C PR62 Brown PCGS.<p>B-1, Low R.6. Having filled its vaults with coins from previous years, the Philadelphia Mint refrained from producing business strike Half Cents in 1836. The facility did, however, strike an unknown, although presumably limited number of proofs this year. With no evidence of obverse die buckling and softly defined rims, the present example is definitely an original. Tan-brown toning envelops both sides with blushes of reddish-orange color beneath. There is not a single ill-defined feature, and mentionable distractions are confined to a few shallow scrapes in the lower obverse field above the date and a small reverse spot at the C in CENT.
