1835 N-8 R1 PCGS graded MS64RB.
1835 N-8 R1 PCGS graded MS64RB. PCGS graded MS-64 Red & Brown. Head of 1836. Lustrous light to medium brown with subtle overtones of light bluish steel. Original mint red covers 20% of the obverse and more than half of the reverse. There is an arcing nick or pre-striking planchet mark up from the dentils just left of the date, and this mark catches your eye. Otherwise the only defects are a couple tiny spots over star 4 and a couple dull contact marks over TES in STATES, and these are not distracting. Rare EDS without any die cracks on the obverse. Called MS65 and tied for CC#3 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#4 overall but finest of the early die state by a wide margin, his photo #21601. Our grade is MS63. PCGS Population 2; 1 finer in 65RB. Estimated Value $1,000-UP. Ex J. P. Young, Barney Bluestone 9/29/45:758-T. James Clarke 10/54. Our item number 137346 "
