1835 N-6 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Head of 1834 with Small 8 and Stars. Bright original mint red fading to steel brown on the highpoints, at least two-thirds of the original mint color remaining on both sides. Great luster and eye appeal, only traces of old fingerprints in the fields and microscopic ticks on the cheek from flawless. MDS with fine die flowlines covering the fields. The die crack or line passing through the bottom of the 835 is dull but easily visible and some of the repunching on the C in AMERICA remains visible. The thin rim cud left of the date to star 1 found on the latest state is not present. Called MS70- and CC#1 in the Bland census. Noyes says MS65 and CC#1, his photo #20674. Our grade is MS65. This cent is not only the undisputed finest known of the die variety, but it is the finest example of the "Head of 1834 with Small 8 and Stars" type regardless of the die variety.
