1835 N-4 R4+ Small 8 & Stars PCGS XF Details Damage
Glossy light brown speckled with tiny spots of darker olive brown toning on the reverse. The obverse is smooth with only trivial contact marks, nearly choice. The reverse, however, has a scrape from the ribbon end down to the dentils plus a couple dozen small ticks inside the wreath, none notable but too many to ignore. Frost shows in the protected areas on both sides. Very rare terminal die state (TDS) with a large, strong die break connecting NITED to the rim. The reverse is rotated 40 degrees clockwise. Our grade is VF25. Tied for CC#4 honors for the variety in the Noyes census, his photo #22242. A great cent in spite of that small scrape on the reverse, and it comes with a very nice provenance. The attribution and Twin Leaf Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS label.
