1835 C-2 R1 PCGS graded MS63 Red & Brown
1835 C-2 R1. PCGS graded MS-63 Red & Brown. Lustrous mint red mellowing to olive and steel brown. About 20% of the planchet now displays faded mint color. Sharply struck with smooth, slightly reflective fields on both sides that give this piece outstanding eye appeal. The only marks are a tick right of the nostril and a faint line of planchet impurity in the field under star 6. Otherwise this piece is a gem. MDS, Manley state 2.0, with a clear die clashmark at the truncation above the 35. Our grade is consistent with the slab grade. The Cohen attribution and Carvin Goodridge provenance are noted on the PCGS label. PCGS population 2; tied for finest graded of the variety (#35292).
Estimated Value $400-UP.

Provenance: Ex Bowers & Merena 3/26/1984:1496 (lot ticket included).
