1835 $5 AU55 NGC. Second Head, Breen-6505, McCloskey 3-D, R.3. An extremely lustrous and well-struck example with wonderful, warm honey-gold color. Breen's 1988 Encyclopedia records three different portraits of 1835 half eagles, but the differences are relatively minor. It is actually easier to attribute them by the reverse dies, since the legends continued to be entered by hand on each working die until 1839.

Coin Engraver: William Kneass

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
