1835 10C Dime--Double Struck, Second Strike 85% Off Center, Rotated, Obverse Brockage--VF25 NGC. JR-9, R.2. This Capped Bust dime has unusually broad rims, and the AMER in AMERICA from a prior strike is visible from 9 to 10 o'clock on the reverse. This indicates the reverse die rotated approximately 150 degrees clockwise between strikes. The obverse shows no doubling, which implies the reverse (hammer) die was loose. The cataloger believes the second strike was rotated rather than off center, which contradicts the NGC insert. The obverse has a partial brockage from 6:30 to 8:30, which presumably occurred during the second strike. The brockage shows unidentifiable design elements.

Coin Engraver: John Reich

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
