1834 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB.
1834 N-3 R1 PCGS graded MS65RB. PCGS graded MS-65 Red & Brown. Large 8, Small Stars, Medium Letters. Lustrous mint red fading to steel brown, more than a third of the original color remaining. No significant distractions on either side, only a few tiny splashes of slightly darker toning, including two well hidden at ERT in LIBERTY and another at the dentils under star 11. A small, shallow depression in the field off the tip of the nose appears to be a pre-striking planchet void rather than a contact mark. MDS with a die crack passing through stars 12 & 13 to the dentils at either end. The reverse is rotated 25 degrees CW. Called MS70- and finest known in the Bland census. Noyes says MS60 and tied for CC#8. Now that's a big spread! Our grade is MS64. PCGS Population 1; none finer. Estimated Value $2,000-UP. Ex French's 37th sale, 10/28/48:36-Dr. Kenneth J.
