The following characteristics confirm the variety: star 7 points to the top of the headband, the scroll ends under the center of the M in AMERICA, and a die chip is located in the upper right space of the N in UNITED. Walter Breen, in his <I>Encyclopedia of United States and Colonial Proof Coins, 1722-1977,</B></I> stated: "I have seen at least 15 that I can be fairly sure are different specimens." NGC and PCGS have graded a total of 14 pieces (4/07).<BR> Cobalt-blue, lavender, light green, and golden-brown colors present a variegated blend in the fields. Most of the Liberty motif is a frosty light gray, while the eagle is mostly ice-blue and golden-tan. The obverse presents a cameo-like appearance from all angles, while the reverse contrast is noticeable when the coin is tilted under a light source. Excellent definition is visible on the design elements, enhancing the coin's great eye appeal.
