<B>1834 $5 Plain 4 AU53 PCGS.</B></I> First Head, Breen-6501, McCloskey 3-A, R.3. Unusually well struck, especially on the reverse. The somewhat muted surfaces display deep olive-orange toning and some grayish-lilac color near the borders. A shallow diagonal scratch is noted on Liberty's face, from near the corner of her mouth to the jawline. Purchased in the 1930's at face value by Karl Stecher Sr. from coins turned in by the public as per President Roosevelt's March 9, 1933 directive.
