1834 $5 Plain 4--Tooled, Altered Surface--NCS. Unc. Details. Second Head, Breen-6502, McCloskey 2-A, R.2. The 4 in the date is triple punched, with a script 8, the eagle has a tongue, and the 5 in the denomination is halfway under the fletchings. This piece appears to have had the obverse hair strengthened a bit, and a small patch in the left obverse field shows tool marks where some deficit was effaced. Much appeal remains, however. While the luster is largely absent, the surfaces are free of abrasions and show a typical strike for the issue.

Coin Engraver: William Kneass

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information\)
