(1834-37) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, 28G. Centered
(1834-37) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, 28G. Centered MS61 NGC. K-3, R.6. Two gold dollar varieties were produced as part of the fourth series of Bechtler gold coinage. This variant shows a colon after the C (for Christopher) along the obverse periphery, and "28G" is centered, rather than being too high on the central obverse (as seen on K-2). The lustrous surfaces display green-gold and peach toning. The design elements are well struck, and surface marks are minimal for the grade. Bechtler coins are not often encountered in Mint State, making this an important opportunity for the specialist. Census: 3 in 61, 1 finer (6/07).
From The Stephen L.
