(1834-37) G$1 C. Bechtler Dollar, 28G. Centered AU58 PCGS. K-3, R.6. Christopher Bechtler, a German immigrant, struck gold coins at his home near Rutherfordton, North Carolina, beginning in 1831. His private mint was a success, and partly filled the need for a locally-produced medium of exchange in the gold-mining region of North Carolina. Well struck with the reverse die rotated clockwise by nearly 90 degrees. The green-gold surfaces are unworn and free of abrasions. Faint hairlines are noted on both sides. A pleasing near-Mint example of Bechtler coinage. Listed on page 348 of the 2008 Guide Book. PCGS Population: 4 in 58, 1 finer (6/07).

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
