1834 10C Large 4 MS64 NGC. JR-5, R.1. N
1834<10C> Large 4 MS64 NGC. JR-5, R.1. NGC incorrectly attributes the coin as being the JR-4 variety, when in fact it is JR-5. The obverse is the same as that on JR-4 (except that a fine crack now extends from the rim through date digits 834), but the reverse is different. The JR-5 reverse is identified by the AM and CA of AMERICA being virtually joined. This near-Gem specimen displays iridescent cobalt-blue and orange-gold peripheral obverse toning with a mauve-gray center. The revere exhibits a more splotchy pattern of the same color scheme. A sharp strike characterizes most of the design elements, though the horizontal shield lines are a tad soft. A few minute marks occur on Liberty's cheek and neck.
