(1833) I Take The Responsibility--Roman Firmness, Low-51, HT-70, MS65 Brown NGC. A superb piece with light blue-gray patina over the lustrous surfaces. A small dark area on the obverse is the only thing keeping this piece from an even higher grade. According to Rulau's The Standard Catalog of United States Tokens 1700-1900, "Recent research has shown that this token is probably the first cent-sized political type token which achieved wide circulation, and it opened the door for a flood of similar items. The die was cut by Edward Hulseman in Attleboro, Mass. in the fall of 1833, and the tokens were struck by the button-makers, Robinson's Jones & Co. of Attleboro, who were Hulseman's employers 1833-1836."

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
