1833<H10C> V-4, LM-3.5, R.2. Reiver State e.--Damaged--NCS. XF Details. Full Cud at NITE. The damage consists of slightly rough surfaces on the lower obverse and a dull dent below the right wing of the eagle, which may have slightly bent the coin along the horizontal axis. A few other nicks and scratches can be found, but these are common to any circulated Bust half dime. Toned a dark steel-gray and while this may not be the most alluring coin in the double row box, it is certainly one of the latest die states of any half dime variety. There are a handful of Capped Bust half dimes which are known to develop full cuds, and this is one of the very few dies that were used for coinage with this degree of failure. An important coin for the specialist and although not as nice as the specimen in the Russell Logan Collection, this coin has no trace of the lettering within the cud while the Logan did have a whisper of the remaining T, as that piece of the die was apparently still attached when the Logan coin was struck.
Ex: Coins 'n Such (February 1980). Envelope Included.
