1833<10C> JR-4, R.1. Reiver state e. VG8 NGC. Bright silver centers with very dark charcoal toning around the periphery. There is a minor field scratch below Liberty's chin and a tiny nick above star twelve. The reverse is similar, with light silver devices and darkly toned fields, but the periphery has attractive russet-gold through the lettering. A very late die state with the retained cud through ED ST now falling from the die (apparently, wear precludes absolute confirmation) and this area above the scroll shows no definition from the die. Furthermore, the ATE of STATES also shows die sinking and this section is now a retained cud. An excellent specimen for the grade, and these very late die states are becoming more and more popular with specialists in their series.
Ex: Chuck's Coins (April 1983). Envelope Included.
