1832<H10C> MS61 NGC. V-4, LM-11.2, R.5. A rarity in the Capped Bust half dime series. Of 91 known die combinations, just 18 are considered R.5 or higher, including this 1832 LM-11 die marriage. This is the identical example of 1832 LM-11.2 mentioned in the Logan-McCloskey reference as a top quality coin, and it may be the finest known of this die state. Both dies had already been used extensively, and this variety combines the fourth use of obverse 2 with the sixth use of reverse U. This Mint State example has frosty luster beneath heather and gold toning. The surfaces are exceptional quality for the grade assigned.
Ex: Bowers and Merena (5/1993), lot 1147.
From The William A. Harmon Collection of United States Half Dimes.
