1832<H10C> MS61 NGC. V-11, LM-6, R.4. This is a challenging year for the variety collector. There are 14 known die combinations struck from five obverse and 10 reverse dies. Only four of the 14 varieties are common, with eight others considered scarce (R.3 or 4), one rare (R.5), and one extremely rare (R.7). This is one of the scarce varieties with few Mint State survivors. The combination of dies was not known to Valentine, and was first published by Walter Breen in 1958. Struck from a constant die state of 1832 LM-6. The reverse die was first used to strike the 1831 LM-6 die variety. This is a pleasing example with lustrous silver surfaces and few blemishes of any kind. The central obverse and reverse design features are poorly defined.
Ex: Stack's (5/1998).
From The William A. Harmon Collection of United States Half Dimes.
