1832<1/2 C> C-2, B-2, R.2. Die State 1. AU53 NGC. XF40 EAC. Small date, small stars; Point of highest leaf below E. Perfect obverse and reverse dies. Recently, this variety has been dubbed the "Accessory S" variety, with the lower serif of a misplaced S trapped between the outer leaf tip and berry below and slightly left of the first S in STATES. This die characteristic was discovered by Ron Manley in August 1998. On his envelope, Jules Reiver identified this coin as part of the "Palmer Hoard," but we do not have any details of what this means. Considerable luster remains on both sides with medium to dark brown color, lighter near the borders. The wreath has a grayish-brown appearance.
Ex: "Palmer Hoard;" Harold Bareford; William Bareford (5/25/1984). Envelope Included.
