1831 N-8 R3 Large Letters PCGS graded AU58, CAC Approved
Frosty light brown and tan with darker steel brown on the highpoints. The fields are satiny and this cent has very nice eye appeal. Just a few minor marks including some darker toning at the dentils under star 1, a small puff of similar toning over star 3, and a few tiny ticks in the field under the chin. MDS with clearly defined die cracks on the reverse but no cud. Graded AU55 net AU50 and tied for CC#7 in the Noyes census, his photo #28522. Graded AU55 by Del Bland. Our grade is AU50. This is the plate coin for the variety in the 1992 John Wright reference on the cents of 1816-1839. The attribution and COL Ellsworth Collection provenance are noted on the PCGS Gold Shield label.
