Large Cents 1831 N-3 R1 VG8. Spectacular Double Strike. Glossy chocolate and steel brown. The only defects are small, light rim bruises at star 3, D in UNITED, and the second T in STATES. Struck normally, then struck a second time 95% off center leaving a bold, complete second date near the rim above the head and an additional ES OF under the wreath stem on the reverse. All double struck large cents are rare, but ones with the additional strike this far off center while still showing a complete second date are very special, indeed. Ex Crowthers (Boston Coin Co.)-John M.
