1831 H10C PR62 ANACS. V-1, LM-6. Writing in 1977, Walter Breen reports proof 1831 Capped Bust Half Dimes of the V-1, V-3, V-4, and V-5 die marriages. The present example, a V-1 specimen, is noticeably reflective in the fields with uncommonly sharp striking definition. A little bit of incompleteness of detail is seen over a few of the denticles and at the junction of the eagle's left (facing) wing and the upper border of the shield. Mottled sprays of cobalt-blue and copper-russet iridescence drift over both sides, and the only worthwhile pedigree marker is a nearly horizontal obverse scrape in the field above the date. This is the first proof 1831 Half Dime that we have offered in recent memory. Important notice: We expect to be auctioning lots at the rate of 200-250 per hour. Sometimes eBay Premier live bid software cannot keep up with that pace, so we strongly recommend that you place a realistic proxy bid now as insurance to avoid disappointment. Also please note that all Heritage/CAA lots purchased through eBay Premier carry a 20% Buyer's Premium. Please make sure you read the Terms and Conditions.
