1831<H10C> V-2, LM-3, R.4. Reiver state a. MS62 NGC. This is the scarcest variety of the year. The coin is bright and lustrous, with flecks of russet and gold around the periphery on the obverse, more colorful blue, gold and russet on the reverse. As to the strike, it is sharp on all but a few of the uppermost curls. There are no surface disturbances worthy of note, and this is a very attractive coin for the grade, particularly so for this elusive variety. The die state shows the usual obverse die cracks from the rim to the second star, another up through the left stars, another from the second star toward Liberty's chin, and one each to Liberty's curls through the twelfth and thirteenth stars. The present coin is well up in the John Reich Collectors Society Condition Census, although a few more are likely to turn up in type collections or investment portfolios. An excellent coin for any specialist to pursue.
Ex: Ed Hipps, Jr., (April 1984). Envelope Included.
