1831 50C MS66 NGC. O-108, R.1. This variety is attributed by the following: star 13 nearly touches the curl, the 3 in the date is lower than the 181, the 1s have tiny serifs at the top, the 5 in the denomination is higher than the 0 and has a straight flag and an open loop, and the bottom of D in UNITED is lower than the E.
This Premium Gem has attractive apricot-copper patination in the centers that transitions to lavender and then to electric-blue at the margins. A well executed strike brings out sharp definition on the design elements that are well centered on the planchet. Strong dentilation is noted on both sides, each of which is devoid of significant marks. Census: 14 in 66, 2 finer (10/07).

Coin Engraver: John Reich

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
