(1831-35) Wm Rutter Red Store, Low-327, HT-170, R.7, Boston, MA, XF45 NGC. This evenly struck golden-brown representative is smooth aside from a pinscratch along the left reverse and minor, intermittent granular patches. The dies are rotated 80 degrees, and the piece may be broadstruck. Boston merchant William Rutter was in business circa 1813 to 1863 at various locations, according to Rulau. The Rutter card was attributed to the Hard Times period by Howland Wood in 1913. It is a very rare card with the indication that only 22 pieces were struck..
From The Troy Wiseman Collection.882
