1830s Louis Phillippe I Medals. Includes two bronze medals issued during the reign of Louis Philippe I of France. The first (and the nicer of the two) was issued in 1833 to commemorate the royal visit to the Paris Mint, a large (about 75 mm), ornate medal with the word "bronze" and a quiver stamped into the edge; this is the Paris Mint mark. The second medal was issued to commemorate the completion of the Obelisque de Louqsor (Obelisk of Luxor). At the top are two holes that must have been used to mount a ring for wearing; the name of the engraver is under the bust of Louis, "Montagny F." A nice pair of French medals that should draw considerable attention. Market value is approximately $125-$200.

Shipping: Coins & Currency (view shipping information)
