1830<H10C> MS64 NGC. V-1, LM-14, R.3. The scroll on the reverse is shifted to the left, with the S of PLURIBUS centered below the E in STATES, farther left than any other variety of the year. In fact, this position is farther left than any other reverse of the entire series from 1829 to 1837. The example represents the early die state with perfect obverse and reverse dies. The aesthetically pleasing surfaces present fully prooflike fields beneath ivory color and deeper gold toning along the borders. A couple insignificant blemishes keep this from Gem quality. This is the identical example mentioned by Logan and McCloskey in their reference as notable for the variety.
Ex: Georgetown Sale (Kingswood Galleries, 7/1993), lot 7006.
From The William A.
