1830<10C> Medium 10C JR-3, R.3. Reiver state b. MS61 NGC. Sharply struck and lustrous, with a bit of dullness in the open fields and large devices. Toned with a splash of peripheral gold on the obverse, more even on the reverse. There is a thin hairline scratch from the fourth star to Liberty's curls and another on the back of her cap which will help identify this coin in the future. A wonderfully late die state for the obverse and reverse dies, both of which were deservedly retired after cracking up to coin this variety. On the obverse the die crack from star seven to Liberty's cap has split into two parallel cracks, with a small retained cud between the star and cap, and several lumps through the cap. A minor crack is found from the rim to Liberty's bust, two parallel cracks connect the inner and outer star points of the first seven stars. A similar parallel crack connects several of the stars on the right, and stars eight and nine are connected by cracks to the rim, and this area has formed a retained cud. Rim crumbling over star six. On the reverse there is an early retained cud touching the tops of NITE with a lump over the E and a similar retained cud over IC of AMERICA, plus a radial die crack through the A of STATES to the motto.
Ex: Money Mundus circa 1985. Envelope Included.
