1829<H10C> MS64 NGC. V-16, LM-10, R.5. From the obverse die with a recut 1 in the date. The C of AMERICA appears to be recut with an additional serif to the right of the final position. The obverse has a vertical die crack through the bust of Liberty. The reverse has a couple small die chips and faint clashmarks. This is a scarce variety, and it is quite possible that the example offered here is one of the finest known examples. Authors Logan and McCloskey commented that this is an extremely difficult variety to locate above Very Fine grade. This ivory toned Mint State example is a splendid one, with frosty luster beneath blue and iridescent toning. The surfaces on both sides have only the faintest abrasions.
From The William A.
