1829<H10C> MS62 NGC. V-4, LM-7.2, R.4. Students Logan and McCloskey recorded three separate emissions of this die marriage with the following sequence: LM-7.1, 6.2, 7.2, 8, 6.3, 7.3. This particular example adds some confusion to the recorded sequence of events. The following die state characteristics are recorded for the various marriages and remarriages, as follows:
First angle of N fills with small die chip (LM-7.1): yes.
Die crack forms from right side of 9 to dentils (LM-7.2): faint.
Small cud in dentils above M (LM-7.2): yes.
Die crack from rim through top of E3 (LM-7.2): yes.
Small die crack forms from base of I2 to C1 (LM-7.2): yes.
Top loop of S2 fills (LM-7.2): no.
Large die chip in second angle of N (LM-7.3): no.
Die crack from left wing to rim (LM-7.3): yes.
Die crack through top of E3 continues to top of R (LM-7.3): yes
Die crack forms from R to rim (LM-7.3): no.
Retained cud forms above ER (LM-7.3): no.
This example combines characteristics from both LM-7.2 and LM-7.3 and renders the task of ordering the emission sequence nearly impossible. The present Mint State example has lovely heather and deep rose toning over satiny luster.
Ex: Bowers and Merena (9/1993), lot 1320.
From The William A.
