1829 “ANDREW JACKSON’S INAUGURAL ADDRESS” Outstanding Decorative Printed Silk Vignette Broadside Exceedingly Rare Design Not Listed In Threads of History!
March 4, 1829-Dated, Decorative Printed Silk Broadside titled, “ANDREW JACKSON’S INAUGURAL ADDRESS,” Printed at the Office of the U.S. Telegraph, Washington City, Choice Very Fine.
Top line of text heading above the Inaugural Address text reads, in full: “On being sworn into Office, as President of the United States, March 4th, 1829.” This extremely rare design Vignette Silk Broadside measures 19.25” x 13.5” (by sight), housed in a gold painted wooden frame to 21.5” x 15.75”. A remarkably solid and complete black print on pale white satiny silk, this two-column Inaugural Address by Jackson is arranged quite nicely. The top center shows an image of President Andrew Jackson seated and reading, with an American Heraldic Eagle with a laurel wreath in its beak, the text and designs surrounded by a thick decorative ornate mock columns and brick icons in a dome design. All of the Address text and imagery are therefore shown bordered by the columns and arch. As stated in its text, “Printed at the Office of the U.S. Telegraph, Washington City” being the chief journalistic newspaper of the Jacksonian Democrats. This Silk Broadside Textile is one of the most attractive we have seen of its type, having some scattered tone and minor spotting along both edges and at bottom, not affecting its text and some nicks to the frame. Extremely rare with the vignette design and image of Jackson at top, and having superior eye appeal for display, this design Not Listed in Threads of History!
