1829 50C MS64 PCGS. O-111a, R.2. By far the most spectacular example of this otherwise more obtainable die marriage we have offered. As with many O-111s, there is little or no evidence of recutting on STA and E in STATES and the 5 in the denomination. The strike is very well executed save for Liberty's highest curls and the eagle's right (facing) claws. The untoned surfaces display glassy prooflike luster in the fields except for an unfinished halo about the eagle's head and neck. Quite possibly Condition Census quality for this pairing, with the new edition of United States Early Half Dollar Die Varieties 1794-1836 listing a grade range of 65 to 63.
From The Temecula Collection.

Shipping: Coin/Currency (view shipping information)
