1829 50C Fine 12--Edge Damage--NCS. F Details. O-106, 1829[50C] Small Letters--Edge Damage--NCS. Fin
1829<50C> Small Letters--Edge Damage--NCS. Fine Details. O-106, Low R.5. The obverse attribution of the rare O-106 variety is achieved via absence rather than presence, since it has no distinctive "pickup point" of its own. The O-106 reverse has a large 50 C. high and close to the olive stem, with the ends of the C nearly closed. E PLURIBUS UNUM is recut. The reverse was also used with the O-101 1829/7 overdate obverse and the O-107 obverse, having parallel die lines before the bust. This is not the overdate obverse. The present cataloger, using a 16x loupe, can find no trace of the O-107 die lines, but their absence is made less credible by advanced die erosion, extensive wear, and various kinds of minute obverse damage that low rims and a damaged edge have enabled. Dentilation that might aid attribution is absent. While the level of detail on the date, the lower hair curls, and the headband makes it likely that any die lines would still be visible, the attribution is not entirely certain. The reverse of the coin is much better preserved, with a fairly strong strike and much detail remaining.
Ex: Floyd Farley (7/31/1979). Envelope Included.
